Fees and Rebates

Beyond the Surface Psychology provides a combination of private psychology and outreach services. We ensure our fees are below the rate recommended by the Australian Psychological Society (which is currently $311 for 45-60 minutes).

Standard Consultation:

The cost for a standard consultation is $220.00 (50 minutes) for private paying families. Sessions are required to be paid in full on the day of the appointment. 

NDIS:

NDIS funding for intervention services can be used under the line item 'Improved Daily Living' for Self-Managed and Plan-Managed clients. For clients with an NDIS plan accessing their funding for services, fees are set as per the NDIS schedule of fees, at $222.99 (50 minutes).

Outreach (Travel) Fee:

For NDIS participants who wish to be seen in their school or home, an additional travel fee will be applied. The travel cost is subject to the distance of the location from Beyond the Surface Psychology. This cannot exceed beyond 30 minutes (for one-way travel). Any fees associated with outreach will be discussed and individually tailored at the initial session.

Assessment Fee:

Each assessment is quoted on an individual needs based on the hourly rate of $220.00. The fee is comprised of the intake session, assessment session(s), feedback appointment and a set report fee. Additional administrative costs may be included (i.e., testing costs, assessment scoring, liaising with relevant teachers and health professionals). Please get in touch for further information.

Medicare:

Whilst you do not need a referral to make an appointment, in order to access Medicare rebates that may be available for psychology sessions, you will require a referral from your GP. Medicare card holders with a valid Mental Health Care Plan are entitled to a rebate of $96.65 per session for a total of 10 sessions per calendar year.

Private Health Insurance:

If you have extras cover, you may be able to claim from your private health fund for non-Medicare sessions. Please check with your private health insurer to determine your eligibility. If eligible, you will need to submit your paid invoice to your fund directly to receive your rebate.

Additional Costs:

We try our best to keep emails or phone calls short and free of charge for clients. For any letters, emails, statements, or phone calls requiring 15 minutes or more are billed at $50 per 15 minutes. Communication via email and telephone in-between sessions will be kept to a minimum with an expectation that it is limited to administrative or safety issues.
